I'll second that - although I'm buying in Salem and not SF.

It even compares favorably with the local lamb I buy here.

All the lamb that I can recall seeing in Costco has been either Australian or Kiwi.
Cheers!

The lamb at Sam's Club is from New Zealand, and is very very good. The best lamb I have ever had is from a local place called Bluegrass Lamb and goat. The lamb is from a sheep that does not grow wool, but hair. The unappetizing name is "hair sheep. The man at BL&G prefers to call it "New American" the breed started in Africa though so that is a misnomer. The hair sheep not producing wool, has much less lanolin therefore it is much less gamy

Costco's rack of lamb is as good or better, really better, than than any other market we use. Old story, but what got us to be Costco meat fans was that Julia Child bought her meat there and if it was good enough for Julia...

I've been real happy with Costco's lamb, too, Shel. But it pales in comparison to the baby spring lamb I get to eat (but not bring back, that embargo's still in place) in Canada, organically raised lamb I've bought up here that comes out of Oregon (Umpqua Valley organic), and the lamb I've ordered from this place:

LOL Jenise, I looked up Jamison Farms and their rack of lamb is $37+ a pound, minimum 3 lbs. per order, so I would hope it would be spectacular! Think I'll stick to Costco, it's just a wee bit less expensive so will bravely put up with the lesser quality!

Well, that's why I only ordered it once and that was 7 or 8 years ago. But it was still some of the best. :)

Bob, AFAIK rqacks, chops and legs are the only lamb have ever seen at Sam's, and they are great. I've never seen sweetbreads, and truth be told, I've never cooked them either.
