Celia, try using Notepad.

Thanks Cyn, I will.

Well, Darn! And it would've been so convenient.

Not even "just because he's Stuart"? Guess not. :D  :D :D

Better still use Word to write it (thus getting spellcheck & etc) then copy from Word and paste into Notepad whereupon all Words hidden irritations will be lost -- then copy and paste from Notepad.

Swot I do.

celia wrote:Peter, thanks for letting me know! The strange code only seems to appear in IE - it wasn't showing up in Firefox. I've gone through and deleted it - the problem is, I compose my text in Word, but it won't let me cut and paste it in as plain text, so I have to go through manually and delete a whole lot of coding after I post. I'd love some advice on this, if anyone has any please! The grey font is non-adjustable - when you use Wordpress, you select a theme, and all the bits and pieces are then set accordingly. I really like the lime green banner at the top, so I'm kind of stuck with the font at the moment. Sorry!

Chef, thank you, that means a lot to me!

And Hoke, you could always get a white one - everything matches with white..

What version of MS Word are you using? I have the MS Office 2003, and I can do a file save as and choose plain text (*.txt) . I don't know what the newer versions of Word does.

Peter, Linda, I've tried both of those options, and neither seems to work in the new version of Office that Pete's installed for me. Which is bizarre - how on earth does it manage to keep the formatting if I cut and paste into Notepad, or save it as plain text? Anyway, Cynthia's suggestion seems to be working - I just type in Notepad to start with, and then cut and paste from there. Thanks!

Lovely blog, Ce! I didn't have time to read it all, but it's beautiful to look at. We used to have a crabapple tree in the woods next to our house, but never thought to do anything with the fruit other than swear vigorously at it as it dropped onto our driveway. Now, alas the tree is dead, so no more fruit (although it makes a nice home to a pair of red-breasted nuthatches).

The crabapple is really interesting, RR - not really like an apple at all! Is it a related species? I thought it looked more like the lilly pilly fruit we'd harvested last month...

There are numerous species of apples, including the domesticated subspecies that we buy as apples in the market. Apples and crabapples are mainly differentiated by size of the fruit - under 2" dia., it's a crabapple. They all belong the the genus Malus, as does the rose. Like the wild roses, wild crabapples are an important food source for wildlife, which is why I'm going to plant a few trees thoughout my new patch of forest. It also makes exquisite jelly, as you have discovered. :D

I've been playing with the blog software over the weekend, and have changed the theme (the light grey was getting to me too, Peter!). The new theme lets me add things on the side (widgets), so I've put a link in to WLDG (of course). I've also uploaded the bagel tute I did for John and Stuart last year. Would love any feedback you have...many thanks!
