I don't when we are going to see any bare ground around the house. Last week we paid to have the room cleaned off because we didn't want a repeat of the roof leakage we had last winter. So, we got three or four more feet of snow all around the house with herbs and other perennials under it!

We had caesar salad, lasagna two ways with two different amarones, and blackberry pie.

Thai Larb Kai (spiced minced chicken salad) with white rice for tonight. Sweat pouring off the forehead to follow.

:) It's my neighborhood. All of our amazing and wonderful friends here in the neighborhood are working hard to keep us fed. I thought I'd lose weight during this time but it might end up going the other way!

So, last night, high winds resulted in a loss of power to West Lafayette. My plan to pick up a loaf of bread and salad makings for a late, light dinner fell to pieces when traffic and lack of stoplights delayed me beyond the closing time of the market I was planning on stopping at. Rather than risk disaster by venturing out to a 24-hour grocery store, I rummaged around in the fridge for dinner makings. I ended up pulling a package of corn tortillas out of the freezer, steaming them and making quesadillas that I topped with cilantro, salsa and avocado that was laying around. Washed down with some leftover '08 Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc, it made for a decent late dinner to accompany WLDG chat.

That is a lot of flour for 1 pizza!

I'm guessing you're not very into the thin crust pizza thing? Or you have a gigantic oven.

I use 1/1-2 cups of flour and it pretty much covers my oven's space.

Interesting coincidence. Cindy flew in last night and the cupboard was empty. We headed straight for the roadhouse that is less than 1/2 mile from home, same place where I had dinner the previous night. After making our way through winds strong enough to push my SUV along the interstate, Cindy noted that the parking lot was kinda full.....and wondered if power was out somewhere nearby. Waitstaff confirmed that. And as we sat down and looked southwest towards our subdivision, we noted.....nothing.....darkness, no lights whatsoever. Dinner was a chicken quesadilla for me, caesar salad and potato gratin soup for her. Luckily, it was half-price-bottle-of-wine night so we consumed a bottle of MacMurray Ranch Sonoma Coast PN for a charge of $13. This was actually a decent PN for the price. And when we got home, power was indeed out.
Cheers!
