The Christmas cooking marathon has ended at our house. Tonight we went out for mexican food at our local favorite called Dona Maria's. I had Chalupa Toluca with pork, Kirk and the kids had chicken fajitas burritos, my dauther in law had carne asada tacos. Delicious food, with authentic salsas made from fresh and dried chiles and killer margaritas. We're all in a food coma now and enjoying the cold (for So Cal 40 degrees is COLD), but ready for warmer climes, soon.

The simple use of the "quote" button makes it easy to place a post in context. Just sayin'.

Are you talking to me? :D Seriously, this quicheria was for a group of Mary's old college friends. If you qualified, you'd have been invited!

You don't think that the quote block on the post immediately following the one I'm responding to is sort of... redundant?

"You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the $#@! do you think you're talking to?"

Oh Karen, that's awful. I hope it wasn't the hand you need the most. No surgery required, I take it?

Surgery was mentioned by our family Dr. However, once he splinted it and referred me to an orthopedic surgeon, all the Dr's were nowhere to be found. I hope they are back at work tomorrow as it will be six days since the break.

Mexican food does that to you. You make me nostalgic for So Cal. We sure miss good Mexican food--up here, there are a goodly number of Mexican restaurants but they're all bad. Mole made with Nestle's Quik, pico de gallo made days before so that the tomatoes and onions are rancid, sauces that look and taste like corn-starch thickened chicken broth with a splash of paprika in them...I can go on. We miss SuperMex! Not on par with the kind of Mexican food you're describing, but satisfyingly good take-out for sure.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Good luck, girl.

That was the first thought we had, but the stuff just ended up getting eaten. Now I'm going to have to make another batch just for frying up.

Tonight, my one hand and my patient Gene managed to pull together marinated bone-in pork chops which Gene will grill, baked sweet potato, coleslaw, and applesauce from my freezer. I WILL NOT compromise my health through this ordeal!

 Gene gave me a beautiful Trek Navigator touring bike for Christmas - I picked it out 12/22 and we picked it up today. It will be months before I can ride it. Can't, cook, can't ride!

Geez, how frustrating to have a new bike an a broken wrist! Very sorry to hear that, Karen. I hope the wrist heals quickly.

Joanne said: I sent my husband out to get Mexican off one of those trucks

You have trucks that come round selling take-away food?

We don't have this (yet) where I live. Although when living for a short while in Scotland about 20 years ago there was a truck that came round the streets selling hot fish and chips, hot pies and bridies, various confectionery and crisps, soft drinks (and if memory serves me correctly, beer and canned mixed drinks too), and also renting out videos.

If you're buying it, then the food must be ok. Are they individual operators, or a chain?
