Yes, and certainly bok choy doesn't all by itself make a dish Chinese but one could make that case for the woman who didn't get eliminated too--what about farro and lamb made her dish automatically Middle Eastern or even distinguished it from the fish and farro that apparently represented Italy quite well (since it's maker was in the top three)?

Re Stefan, I didn't notice his looking overdone. However someone else's looked blue-rare to me, though I don't remember whose. Sure was a lot of lamb on the table!

Agree! There was a lot of lamb! Funny, we are having lamb tonight (small roasted boneless leg).
I think the girl from Colorado may be a little out-leagued. Didn't really have anything "Italian" in her repertoire??? I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

Wasn't that a hoot? Made me question the quality of the applicants who tried out for the show. She won't get very far--if you are so untrained and uncurious that you haven't made a point of understanding the world's major and most popular cuisines, and if you're so darned isolated that Italian food hasn't even found YOU, then you shouldn't leave home.

I always thought they like to balance the personalities for the sake of dramatic television. But, at the same time they do a good job of being pretty serious about food. Along those lines, I was proud that they asked the young CIA student to leave because I thought his personality was more flamboyant and would make for 'better' television but clearly that wasn't the overriding concern. Bravo to Bravo.

Good point, Rahsaan. Maybe he got on the producers nerves as much as he was getting on mine! :)

On the last show...what exactly did he do to those olives on the carpaccio dish? They kind of skimmed over that process in the description.

OK, I'll admit that I don't really watch much TV other than cartoons. But since everyone seemed so fascinated by this show and I had a few uncommitted minutes, I opened some wine, sat on the couch, and decided to give it 15 minutes

I truly and dearly do want that 15 minutes back.

Fortunately, the wine was pretty good.

Yeah, 15 minutes with shows like this is 15 minutes closer to death.

I am not so sure about that Jenise. They could rig the show where she wins it all! That would give the show a (sorta) Obama like quality, wouldn't it? :-)

Go here to learn about the Olives -

PS - I thought it was brilliant (conceptually at least) to make the contestants feed the disgruntled losers.

Well being forced to watch the Seabags will do that to a person.

Well, to those who ARE making it past the 15 minute mark of viewership, do you think the right person went home? I do, but think they should have sent two people. The one from Colorado AND the woman from New Jersey. The latter was acting like she was going to blame her competitors if she went home because she thought they were holding their opinions back regarding her Martini. Why wouldn't she have adjusted the taste to tone the sweetness down?? And this is something she serves in her restaurant, so she'd done it before??

The Capaccio looked amazing too me. All of my favorite things on the plate. I was a little surprised he won though. Nothing was really cooked--just dressed and assembled. (Guess that's enough though if it's really good.) I'm going follow that link about the olives. I have to know more about those. I thought the corn soup would win judging by the reactions to it.

Carrie,

Yep...should have sent them both packing. Too bad they couldn't do it. But I think its only a matter of time for the Jersey gal.

Once playoff start, it will be four Saturdays, too, but at least no Monday or Thursday.
