Jenise,

Alton Brown just did his last show of "Good Eats" about the green bean casserole. He gave all the history and talked about different varieties of string beans. He also did a very nice version of it, similar to the recipe you posted. I think most dishes can be delicious if done properly. I have had decent green been casserole...but it's all about using fresh green beans...NOTHING can make canned green beans taste good...even bacon...LOL!

Green Bean Casserole was never something that we made in our home (That's not to say we didn't make MANY grey, overcooked veggies in our Italian home for Thanksgiving). However, living in the Midwest for several years, I found that the casserole was definitely a Thanksgiving staple there.
