Keeps you alive and kickin, instead of the alternative.
Whereabouts is this small town close to Portland?
I have folks up in Portland and the Salem area, so I'm up there fairly often. Plan on retiring in that area (the Willamette Valley) within a few years. What with global warming, I figure it will be warm and tropical there by then.

If you run into any of my fellow textile artists out there, say "hey" for me! There are a bunch in that area.....

(Y'know, Portland would make an excellent in-between meeting place for those in NorCal and those in Washington. I'm just sayin'...)

Perhaps a dinner at The Heathman Hotel?

Sounds great! And as long as nobody warns the folks at the Heathman, they'll never know what hit 'em.
BTW, I made the individual Wellingtons as per the recipe in Chef on Fire. They were wonderful. The recipe I used a few years back didn't include the foie gras, and that was a definite improvement. Great stuff!
