So if a friend makes you some nice calamari, and you later make them a meal of calamari in return, would that be a fair squid pro quo....? :P  :P

I think it would not be a good idea. Especially if your meal is much better than theirs, you may give them the impression that you wanted to show them how it is done - better. If you go back and forth to each other's homes for dinner, I'd wait a long while before serving Calamari, and even then make an entirely different presentation.

Sure. But I'd probably serve eel. I love eel, and as they say, that's a moray...

If you see a big eel
that would make you its meal,
That's a moray.

If you have seven cats and acquire one more, is the new cat an octo-puss?

If the subject were soup, I'd say this was gruel and unusual pun-ishment!

(Karen - thank you for the appropriate advice, and sorry I forgot to add the smileys to make it clear I was clowning around.) Which reminds me, if a cannibal eats a clown, do you think it tastes funny?

Q: What did Stanley say to the cannibal chief when served stew?
A: "Dr. Livingston, I presume?"

And what about the cannibal that showed up late to dinner and was given the cold shoulder...

Well, I haven't had much experience with lawyers lately, the ones we do know are friends and very nice follks. In fact, one lives right across the street, and he and his wife have been great neighbors. Sometimes I don't understand them either, so it's OK if they don't understand what I say!

I didn't need any confirmation in my mind that puns are the lowest form of humor known to mankind but it did help. :(

We chopped up our pet eel and threw him in a soup about a week ago. His name was Bob. A week before that we braised his brother. His name was Stu.

Hey, I think I saw their brother in our backyard, trying to move overland from one pond to another through the leaves. His name was Russell.

His sister was there, too. She was standing next to the tree. Her name was Ilene.

<grin> Ok, explain to me how an eel stands?

I think I accidentally trod on their brother as I was walking out my front door. His name was Matt.

I don't know but her cousin from China could do it, too. Her name was Irene.

Too bad. Mine were, by comparison, fabulous. You might even say they were rad-ish.
