Buffalo filet minon, roasted broccoli, salad -- Romaine, cabbage -- choice of toppings including chick peas, blueberries, broccoli sprouts. :) No wine. :(

Chicken enchiladas here. I found a recipe on the internet from the internet that seemed interesting, and I had everything on hand except the corn tortillas so I used flour ones. It called for 2 TB of chile powder. Now I like spicy food, but I thought that was too much for 1 can of tomatoes and 2 cups of chicken so I cut it to 1 TB. I also thought it lacked dimension so I added some cumin and red pepper flakes. Well it turned out OK, but still seemed like the chile powder was the primary flavor. If I make it again, it will be with more modifications.

I had a pork chop smothered with sauteed onions finished with just a bit of dry sherry, and a piece of baked Hubbard squash, with apple crisp for dessert.

Tonight, it's takeout quiche. I wasn't going to get home until after 6:00 and my wife had to be at a school "parent information night" at 7:00.

Last night was better: paenne with swordfish, shallots, olives, red pepper flakes, preserved lemon, and capers.

Sounds great, Bob. Was it Buffalo or Bison? I only learned the difference last week when we ate at a restaurant that serves local game.

Ribeye at a local steakhouse & BBQ joint. Dinner with a high school classmate in town on business. We probably hadn't seen each other since our 10-year reunion almost 22 years ago.

"Dinner" will be two distinct meals today. The first the new degustation menu at Carmella BaNachala in Tel Aviv and the second at a newly opened restaurant in Jaffa. We (the royal "we") will eat one-third of each portion.

We had a plate of the sweetest, crispiest radishes with butter and salt, and followed that with a Shepherds Pie I bought at the Costco in Vancouver yesterday when I snuck away from construction to take some friends to the airport. I was delighted to find that Canadian Costco offers a whole different set of options in frozen food up there, options that are both more elegant and refined and meal-like than the kiddie food that is mostly what you find down here.

Interesting thing about the Shepherd's Pie: the label, typical of Canada, is in both French and English, and according to them, French for Shepherd's Pie is "Pate Chinois". HUH?

Grilled lamb chops, fresh artichokes, musclun salad with spring asparagus all wrapped in lemon vinaigrette and I think we'll split a baked potato....because Gene gets two chops and I only get one. :cry:

In the end, Andrew and I made pasta tonight; he ate his with grated Parmagiano Reggiano (no butter, thankyouverymuch) and I ate mine with pesto.

You seem to be doing very well on the vegetarian diet (I would too, they're the foods I love best). Ever miss meat?

Nope, not really. I was a vegetarian for several years in my youth, and I am fairly fussy about the kinds of meat I will eat anyway, so it isn't much of a stretch to just do without it. Although I was daydreaming about bacon the other day! ;) But even before having our combined household, I never really ate it much because the sodium content is an impossibility for me.

With beans :oops: , but also oddly without chillis :oops: :oops: (I forgot that we finished last years crop a couple of weeks ago). Ended up using spiced paprika and some Hungarian Goulash, which actually worked pretty well. All I needed to do was use minced Tofu and it would have been a complete fraud!!
