Nope. You have to kick off first, Tim.

In Tampa there is a sandwich shop called Wright's and they serve a sandwich called the Beef Martini which is fabulous.

Home made white bread topped with Best Foods Mayo, garden fresh beefsteak tomato from my garden, butter lettuce and a good, crisp-fried bacon. Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper is a must.

Home made white bread topped with Best Foods Mayo, Gouda cheese, caramelized sweet onions and white mushrooms, then fried in butter until the cheese begins to ooze.

My version of French-dip on sourdough roll, with horseradish, and my version of French dip.

down the road from my house there's a little neighborhood tavern - The Village Inn.

They have a shrimp po-boy that I could probably eat every day. Served with a side of village inn fries (essentially homemade potato chips), a kosher dill pickle. Oh, and a margarita to sip on.

Why, whatever do you mean, Robin?

For me, it's panini of various sorts. Caprese, spinach and cheese, grilled eggplant, whatever. It's Snackmaster perfected.

Me too. The panini maker is the best $100 investment we've made.

Primanti Bros. sandwich, any kind.

It's a chain in Pittsburgh, a typical sandwich has cole slaw, french fries and Russian Dressing on top of the copious cold cuts. Actually, my favorite is the pastrami.

Google Primanti Brothers for a pic of the sammies. To die for.

One of the following:
Ruben, with too much pastrami, too mcuh coleslaw, a good amount of swiss cheese, on rustic rye bread, all too large to fit your mouth around. AND/OR

A panini made with grilled vegetables: portobello mushrooms, zucchini (or eggplant), red pepper, red onion, with pesto mayo (or red wine vinaigrette), arugula, buffalo mozzarella, on rosemary foccacia.

ah, great sandwiches!!! And within walking distance of two landmarks. First, there is a Penzeys' just around the corner. And Mullaney's is nearby too......the bar that originated the Great Guinness Toast!
Cheers!

OK, then...my favorite sandwich is a Corned Beef on Jewish Rye with yellow mustard [not that sissy brown stuff] and piled high with sauerkraut.

Served with a Kosher pickle slice and potato salad with no onions to ruin it but sliced radishes are a must.

For pure comfort factor, it's hard to beat a grilled cheese made with a thick slab of extra sharp cheddar, grilled with butter.

So many to choose from.

- Grilled sharp cheddar on white bread
- panini of all shapes and sizes but prosciutto, mozz, and basil in particular
- Grilled smoked tofu with sauteed mushrooms and avocado on a kaiser roll
- (OK, I cheated on the last one as I haven't made it at home yet)
- Tuna melt
- Rare roast beef with sharp cheddar and harissa mayo on a roll
- And one more cheater, but I have to include a really good club sandwich. Nothing hits the spot like a double-decker bacon, lettuce, tomato, turkey, and avocado on toasted white bread

When push comes to shove, it's awfully hard to beat the classic BLT, but it must be made with quality bacon, old-fashioned rye, and fresh beefsteak tomatoes in season.

Benedictine (a locally famous cucumber-cream-cheese spread) and bacon on rye toast is also killer.

Hmm ... bacon seems to be the common theme here ...

I couldn't agree more. Pretty much any sandwich (or any meal for that matter) that contains bacon is delicious!

I do love a taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich served on a hard poppy seed roll. I love an oyster po boy sandwich, no tomatoes and lots of hot sauce. Also, a good roast beef sub...excellent bread, rare roast beef sliced thin, paper thin tomatoes and onions, shredded iceberg, EVOO, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper...must be eaten immediately or bread gets soggy. Finally, a sandwich of rare roast beef sliced paper thin on a french baguette, with honey mustard and arugula (some people like roasted red peppers on this too...but I don't like them).

Now I am really hungry!

A BLT is great, but then so is a Philly steak sandwich.

I love it when my wife builds me a grilled turkey and cream cheese on bagel with sliced red onion and course ground mustard.

My favorite sandwich is hot corned beef, hot pastrami and cheese on buttered toasted rye bread. A guy I work with that is very old school brings in sandwiches made of raw beef, raw onion and Limburger cheese. Quite a clever guy because no one asks him to attend any meetings after noon.

Eeewwww! I'm glad I've already had my lunch - a meatloaf sandwich.
