WTN: 2005 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon

Ok, so it's not a Bordeaux blend, as it's actually 100% Cabernet, but it is delicious, even if it is very young. Lots of primary but not at all goopy fruit, with good structure. This strikes me as a more old school style, and I like it very much.

From where in the world does this wine come?

Oops - sorry. It's a Napa Valley wine, and not at all stereotypical.

I know of none but that doesn't mean that there are none. The appellation rules lay down which grape varieties may be used but, unlike outside Bordeaux, my cursory search has not come up with anything laying down maxima or minima for any one variety.

Additionally, since the blends change year-to-year, it is entirely possible that in certain years a given Chateau triaged all but their Cabernet Sauvignon for the Grand Vin.

This reminds me that I have heard, maybe during a visit to the estate, that Château Lafite-Rothschild 1994 was almost 100% Cabernet-Sauvignon. Who's going to taste it for us ?
