Venison Stroganoff

As the title implies, I’m whipping up a nice batch for family dinner tonight. Lots of mushrooms, dill, and sour cream. Stalin would be proud.

Venison should be a great meat for a stroganoff.

Had the worst ever earlier this year in a pandemic-related effort to help local businesses when I ordered a 'heat and eat' version made by a total klutz of a chef. Very tough meat combined with orecchiete pasta in a sparse and nauseatingly unattractive battleship-gray sauce. We threw it away after a few bites. I'm sure yours will be a million times better!

Oh no, DON'T LOOK ETHEL!

Hey, best stroganoff I've ever had? At the long-since closed Russian Tea Room in NYC. It set the bar pretty high with briefly sauteed filet mignon and a topping of finely diced carrots and dill pickles which turned me into a sour topping maker/lover for life.

They grow so fast! Glad to know there's a Mrs. J now. :)
