Bullaces

The hedgerows have been laden with fruit this year, first wild cherries, then blackberries and now bullaces. We picked 1.6Kg on Saturday, our third harvest. From Saturday's haul 1Kg is being made into jam, and the rest I stewed this afternoon with windfall apples to be dessert with ice-cream (j) and Greek yoghurt (me) tonight and tomorrow.

Those look perfect, Peter. I know they're a relative of sloes and damsons so expect them to be quite tart. How are these?

Sloes are really sour, I've taken a bite and spat it out immediately.

I knew these weren't sloes because when I tasted one it was sweet and I ate it all, but I am thinking that the reason we have picked so many is that people think these also are sloes.

AFAIK the only use for sloes is for Sloe Gin.
