Interesting interview this morning on CNBC with the CEO of WingStop, a fast-casual restaurant (though not in the state where I live) that's apparently blowing the doors off sales. Up 35% this year, and they've opened "23 net new stores" which means a few closed, too. But still, in Covid times their business is booming as people look for an alternative to dining in without cooking their own food.

Another factoid gleaned from that is that, observing this success, Domino's (which I've never been a customer of, not once) is adding wings to their lineup as well.

Of all the things to thrive in a pandemic world, this isn't one I'd have bet on.

We have five Wingstops here, and I haven't eaten at any. The highest score on Yelp is 3.5/5 for one of the restaurants.

It's amazing how expensive chicken wings have gotten. My father loved them back in the '50s when they were free and then eventually went up to 10 cents/pound. He'd buy about 100 lbs and stuff them in our freezer so he could fry up a batch every night.

The same thing happened years ago with skirt steak and flank steak. It used to be dirt cheap, and then the fajitas craze started. Now it's pricey.

I agree. And the same thing with flatiron steak and even hamburger meat. Next will be chicken teeth. Pork, though, is still pretty cheap.

Supermarket pork is still pretty cheap, and still pretty tasteless! Better pork isn't so cheap, but worth it.

Lamb and veal shanks used to be cheap too.

When I was a child, lamb shanks were priced like dog bones. My family adored them and prepared them often--delicious and economical. Not so now!
