Origial Babylonian Menu

by Jeff Grossman » Wed Jul 01, 2020 12:37 pm

Interesting post (on Twitter) from an archaeologist, bored by pandemic times, who decided to cook-up the recipes on an ancient Babylonian tablet:

Lots of garlic and leeks. Lots of added fat. Lots of sourdough.

But it's hard to go wrong with lamb stew, even after all these years.

Life imitates art. See PDQ Bach's "The Seasonings".

One of my most favorite PDQ Bach pieces! (That section, and the one after - "Sesame Seeds" - are the funniest ones.)

Interesting. Not sure I envy the ancient palate/diet, but fascinating exercise.

Someone should write a complete fugue using the theme from the fugue in The Seasonings. I wonder how many hours it would run?
