1998 Château Beaumont - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (11/9/2009)
Attractive nose, with decent semi-mature sweet fruit and subtle tobacco.
Nice balance to the palate, with the fruit indeed starting to gain tertiary aspects, yet still with decent depth. There is a little licorice and just a touch of earth/green pepper, with acidity of (just) sufficient strength and no discernable tannins. Somewhat short finish and not a great deal of complexity, but otherwise the wine performs above expectations. Ready, and I'd not be tempted to hold any remaining bottles beyond 2012.

Referring to Brook, the blend is broadly 2:1 Cabernet Sauvignon to Merlot, with just a smattering of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
