2004 Cloudline Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. $18, 14.1% abv. Decanted for an hour before dinner, color was pretty dark in the decanter. In the glass color morphed to medium purple. Fairly viscous, swirling in the glass left “high water marks” in the bowl. Not much of a nose but the taste was distinctly pinot noir. Not as fruity as other NW pinots but the cherry and dark berry flavor was there. Some tannins but not much. Fairly acidic, just a shade out of proportion to the fruit and tannin for sipping. But it was a fine accompaniment to wild Pacific salmon hot off the grill. All in all, a nice drink but not something I’d go out of my way to obtain. Definitely benefits from food.
Cheers!
