I just bought a bottle of Hess Allomi 2004 Napa Cab. from the Party Source and have never seen this desingation on a Hess wine. Is it what used to be their "Estate" Cab? Anyone tasted this one?

It's not their estate cab, which is still called Hess Estate or Mount Veeder on the label. It is a single-vineyard designate. It's sold at a lower price point ($20s vs. $35-40) than the standard Estate Cab.

I like it, but it is definitely a little softer, fruitier, and "sweeter" than the Mount Veeder/Estate cab. I'm thinking early drinking. It's an enjoyable, light Cali Cab-not too profound, but there is an awful lot of far worse plonk out there in this mid-point price range.
