WTN: Good Italian and Awful American

The Good: 2005 Enzo Boglietto Dolcetto D'Alba. Black in color. Black current and blackberry. Juicy tobacco and leather notes with plenty of acidity. Yum-will buy again.

The Ugly: Punk Dog Winery Sophie's Cuvee. 2002. Napa/Sonoma Cabernet.

At first, a nice earthy leathery nose. After a while, when I actually tasted the wine-bleh, bleh, bleh Vanilla Vanilla Vanilla. Harsh and acrid acidty Acidic Red Fruit. How did I drink this and enjoy this last year? Too many wines tasted in the shop? I am really confused as to how I liked that??? Bleh. A gluglugglug down the drain wine.

Thinking further on this wine experience, I have to add a descriptor to the Punk Dog-it was my very first VINYL-flavored wine. Bleh. It truly tasted plastic-y
