The 2000 Marques de Alicante Crianza 2000 Gran Seleccion is a pretty good European imitation of that All-American barbeque wine, red zin. Brambly and peppery and just downright perfect with some pork chops. From the Alicante DO (Alicante has a DO? who knew? and what are the grapes?). Well worth the cost of admission (which, IIRC, was $8-9).
