Thanks for posting this "Dave". The Ravines wines I brought back home from NiCool have not disappointed. I am researching a summer vacation in the Finger Lakes for 2008.

Thanks for the posting. Some of our favorite places.

James, you might want to consider the Inn at Glenora. We have stayed there, and it is hard to beat. I'm sure JC will agree as she was just there.

James,
If the 2 of you came up, I'd love to help set things up for you or even hit a few places up with you.

"Dave" and Carl, thanks for the help. It will definitely be a family vacation, maybe with another family as well. Teenagers in tow and maybe some twenty-somethings with boyfriends. Ed and Anne and family are welcome at any time (Jeannette wants to meet PearlAnne in person and Chris sounds like a great kid!). Of course we will make the pilgrimage to Buffalo to see St. Howie and anyone else. If NiCool is at the end of June I might think about combining it with that. Also the Falls wouldl be a daytrip too. Aditionally there are two wineries in this post I haven't been to yet!

Well, the reason I schedule NiagaraCOOL in June is because I want to keep it away from the MOCOOL time slot at the end of August. However, with no MOCOOL this year and no indications of next year, I may reschedule it to late July or early August next year. However, our winery tours for next year will be Niagara Peninsula, Ont. (We may need passports by then.)
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

James,

You come to the Finger Lakes--to Keuka Lake, where I live--I will forgive all your madness and show you a good time...

The few times I've come across Sandra Silfven's wine columns I've been impressed by how good they are. Is this generally the case?

I've read a few dozen of her columns and always find them enjoyable. I judged with her at the IEWC and she is very knowledgeable

Dan, I would say so. I consistently find her well disposed towards our Northeastern wineries and wines, and since our own wine scene is so near to me I value that highly. Also, while some writers or publications either ignore non-vinfera grapes or treat them with reactionary derision, I have never found that in Sandra's columns.
