Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva
Very inviting nose of dew-dropped floral rose pedals and a reflective ruby color belied this would be something special. This Badia delivers a full palate of brandied cherries but the fruit outshines the liquor notes. Sweet and smooth like applesauce. This Badia opens right away and is a bit of a departure from other CCR's I've had from Fontodi, Fonterutoli, etc. Typical sangio soil notes and silky tannins with good acidity. Long, long finish. Perhaps another year or two will do it some good but it is singing with the altos in the choir right now. A-.
Ardeis in Seminole
Board question: Is this wine made every year by Antinori or just in select years as it's availability here in Tampa/St Pete area seems to be spotty?
