WTN: Chateau Frank Blanc de Blancs 2000

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Jun 27, 2007 8:29 pm

Finger Lakes, New York.

Picked up during last weekend's NiagaraCOOL winery tour. The first release of this wine, or so it says on the winery web site.

A blend of Chardonnay (86 per cent) and Pinot Blanc.

Good mousse.

Nutty, lemony and very clean on the nose.

Very clean, lemony, creamy, buttered toast, good weight, good cleansing acidity. Refreshing and delicious.

There's something about a good bottle of cold bubbly on a hot and humid summer evening. Matched very well with cold chicken and salads.

Long, lemon and tart grapefruit rind finish.

Purchased at the winery for $29.99.

You couldn't resist could you? For the record, my note just says, "excellent". I thought the brut at $24.99 was also very nice. Anyone in the Finger Lakes region of New York owes themselves a visit to Dr. Frank's winery. Ask for George! Great note Bruce!

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yeah, but don't forget Bob, that we still have to make it across the border with our maximum of two bottles per person (four per couple).

My aplogies. When I originally posted this WTN, I stated that the wine was a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. I have since corrected the error and it now, correctly, states that it is a a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc.

Hi Mark, if that is indeed your real name

I bought two of these and two of the Dr. Frank Pinot Noir. Looking forward to popping the Pinot soon.

Good to meet you at the winery tour. Sorry you weren't able to make the picnic.
