WTN: Stoney Ridge Baco Noir Reserve 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Jun 26, 2007 7:09 pm

Niagara Penninsula.

Odd, leafy-like nose.

Rich, fleshy and somewhat sweet berry fruit, smoky, good clean acidity, rather lean in structure, tobacco, slightly charred, spicy, with an odd (but not unpleasant) rhubard-like tang, turning green and leafy toward the end.

Good berry fruit on the fairly long finish.

Despite this being a rather strange wine, I enjoyed it very much.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $15.05 (Canadian).

As always, thanks for the notes, Bruce! :D

I haven't tried this Baco, but might pick some up as an accompaniment to pizza or ribs.

Strange wines for strange people
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
