Last bottle was opened when I was doing my crab-cake marathon so lets see how this `02 is holding up a year later. Bruce recently posted on the `05.
WTN: `02 Herdade do Esporao Branco-Alentejo.
Blend of Antao Vaz, Roupeiro, Arinto. Oz winemaker and huge modern winery.
Colour. Deep lemon starting to verge on light gold so not much change here.
Nose. Assertive lime, crisp, minerally with apple. Still expressive w. some peach and papaya as it warms. So again very similar to previous notes.
Palate. No sign of a downhill turn here! Needed half hour to open, still has that lemony edge and rich texture. Off-dry, great acidity with melon and pineapple. Less oak influenced than previous bottle, I really like the feel of this wine. Went great with pork scallopini and herbed shrimp.
Cost was $20 Cdn.
