I'll be at the cabin, so Hendrick's will be the ticket this weekend.

I'll be there in spirit, drinking Perusini's CabF over here! I'll probably open up Quinta do Alqueve's Fernão Pires and Pewsey Vale's Riesling as well to celebrate midsummer.

With friends, Spanish food tomorrow night, so probably will order a Spanish white off their list and maybe a Rioja.

I was planning to bring:2003 Hess Collection The Lion. Pretty young but drinking pretty nice.

I know I should wait, but I just want to/ need to try the 1999 L'Evangile. I promise to decant it, Jenise.

Finally, I was thinking about bringing either a young Rhone (Crau de Ma Mere Chateauneuf du Pape) or a very fruit-forward Malbec (Achaval-Ferrer Finca Altamira). The latter got pretty high marks on Cellartracker. The CdP is a bottle I picked up from a wine shop I'm "testing" her recommendations to my palette.

All the wines will need decanting. I have especially high hopes for the Pomerol and the Hess Collection (still a great winery with good QPR, imo!)

I already opened my contribution of the 06 Willi Schaefer GD Spätlese #17 for dinner tonight, had to verify that it wasn't corked and all..

But there should be plenty of other wines open as well.

Opened a 2003 Bruno Clair Marsannay Rose' last night (maybe a little past its prime but still some virtues) and will open either a R. Stuart Big Fire Pinot Noir or a Muller-Catoir German wine next.

I was invited to a dinner on Sunday with the theme being Loire wines.
I'm bringing a 2001 F Cotat Sancerre LMD and '96 Cazin Cour Cheverny. I don't know what the rest of the wines are yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I have a lot of driving to do tonight and Sat night, so no wine until Sunday.

We have their Coonawarra Red (Cab+Merlot ?) and Chardonnay. The Red 2002 I've posted on and really liked (rare for me with Aussies, sorry DavidL). The Chard I've also posted on but didn't really care for. No Riesling of their's sorry.

Sounds like a great start. Hard to complain.

I'm going to a restaurant tonight where the wine list consists of the following categories:

Loire Sparkling
Loire Dry White
Loire Demi Sec
Loire Red
Loire Dessert
Other

Hard to complain as well..

Although I am taking the above mentioned Schaefer to start things off..

Tonight we will pop a Culley's Pinot from Marlbough with Eggplant Pizza. Tomorrow nada. Sunday night is a pork B.Y.O.B., so probably some other Pinot.

That is the kind of wine list I like, with more than enough variety to match all possible food matchings. :D

A little thread drift here, but have you tried the 06's from another Schafer (Frohlich) yet? The offer states that Tim Frohlich was able to make one of the few true Kabinett wines of the vintage. I ordered the Bockenhauer Felseneck Spatlese because I like this one every year I've tried it, but was wondering about the Kabinett in 2006.

I hope you will post on the Loire wines after the dinner. The Cotat should be singing.

No I haven't tried them. I don't know which offer you're talking about but Lyle was certainly quite bullish in the Chambers email.

Should be interesting.

Yes indeed. Yixin was in town and he selected the venue.

71 Huet CdB Moelleux 1ere Trie seemed a bit off and we watched it oxidize in the decanter, but the 2000 Belliviere Hommage a Louis Derre was an excellent choice. Will post notes when I can.
