In particular the 1999 Monvigliero bottling?

CellarTracking has had some good results.

Sorry you haven't had any bites yet, Brian. I only wish I could afford to taste Barolo more often.

If you want to try to plow through the Italian, here's an online fact sheet about Alessandria, with pictures:

The only Fratelli Alessandria I've had was the '96 Monvigliero, which was a nicely structured more traditionally styled Barolo.

(be careful when looking at notes, there is also Gianfranco Alessandria, a good but more modern producer)

Thanks, Dale-I did notice the other producer.

I can't really afford to drink Barolo very often, either. But, I happen to have this one in my cellar and was considering opening it on Friday. Still, I have a couple of Cali Cabs that could go first in the queu.

Never tasted the '99 sorry. I love Fr. Alessandria's Dolcetto and Barbera. The only Monvigliero I've had is the '00 which showed some lovely notes, but the hot vintage was too noticable for me. I would love to taste the wine in a cooler vintage, so I would certainly jump at the chance to buy a '99.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

Thanks, Otto.

In discussing this with some of my fellow diners Friday night, I may actually wait to open this one until my boss, who loves more the Tannic Italian reds, can try it. Still...I am tempted.
