WTN: St. Urbans-Hof Riesling Kabinett 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:55 am

Piesporter Goldtropfchen.
MSR.

Rich yellow-green in the glass.

Spicy, honeyed nose.

Very rich, fairly thick, marmalade-like blend of grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime, intense, honeyed, a bit of spritz on the tongue, with a bitter grapefruit rind-like edge that grew stronger with time.

Bitter grapefruit rind on the long finish.

An interesting wine but it is still far too young to drink, IMHO. The intensity and richness and sweetness of the fruit became a bit wearing after a while. This is a wine that I will put away for a long while.

Good value at $20.95 (Canadian).

You are right, now that you mention it, it was quite heavy and intense. Guess I will put the rest away for a while.
