WTN: Herdade do Esporao Vinho Branco Reserva 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Jun 12, 2007 9:24 am

DOC Alentejo.

A blend of Roupeiro, Arinto and Antao Vaz.

Fairly deep, yellow-golden color.

Creamy, spicy, oak and rich fruit on the nose.

Rich and creamy, tangy grapefruit, lemon, pear, good acidity, peppery, toasty and complex.

Slightly bitter grapefruit peel and peppery on the long finish.

A very large and complex wine. Quite impressive.

Purchased at $17.95 (Canadian).

Have been raving about this white for a year or two now, Bruce. Still have 2 of the `04 vintage ready to go. The reds from this winery are for the cellar.

Bruce, as always your notes are impeccable. Thanks for this one - I will look for it at Vintages. It sounds like something nice to have with grilled marinated chicken breasts and a simple salad.
