1000 Registered Users!

by James Roscoe » Fri Jun 08, 2007 3:22 pm

As of 3:00 PM EDT on June 8, 2007, there are 999 registered users for this site. Do we throw Robin and the gang a big celebration on registering number #1000? I for one am mighty impressed and very pleased at the work that has gone into this forum. I want to thank Robin for his dedication and hard work and figured this was the appropriate time to do it. I know there are a lot of people helping (Jenise!) so I want to thank them too.

So could we have a good terroir fight or cork war to celebrate the occasion?

Again, congratulations to Robin on having such a great place to discuss our passion.

James, I thought I was the only one watching the ticker! I've been watching all week. Maybe we should start a pool.

Now if we could only find a way for the 42.8% registered users who never post, to do a post or two. That would be even better.

Here's a big HOWDY from Tulsa! I just registered last night, and want to say that I have already started perusing the boards for anything to help a wine neophyte learn more about the fruit of the vine! I will post my experiences from time to time, although sans the flowery "wine-speak" that the critics use.

I am the sort of guy who likes to try new things, and rarely buy the same wine twice, although there are exceptions (usually with Chateau Ste. Michelle on the label).

So thanks for letting me join!

Welcome Robert and feel free to throw out the questions. Of course that doesn't mean there will always be answers. In fact, if you ask the right questions here, you could even start a fight.

Robert, or should I say Mr. 1000, pull up a stool and sit awhile. We're friendly! Maybe we should give you a custom title to honor this event--Robin?

For something that (I think) started as a bit of fun, this place has sure kicked some backside in the short time it has been running.

Thanks be to Robin, Jenise, Randy and anybody else who give so freely of their time, knowledge and tasting experiences on all things vinous. Good work and congratulations on this quite outstanding achievement in only a matter of a little over a year.

I've come to like a whole lot of people in this community, and as will be known to some of the forum members on the mostly hilarious, sometimes serious on wine, twice weekly, chat sessions, I'm planning a trip to the States sometime next year to visit, meet and tinkle glasses with quite a few of you in person. Be prepared for some quite wicked offline's, people. You've been warned!
Cheers,

David

If you come in June you can attend NiagaraCOOL '08. End of August and you can come to MOCOOL.

David, thanks. It bears noting that those 1000 members would be thousands more if Robin didn't prodigiously administer the real names policy at the point of registration. His zealous screening ensures that us good guys don't have to suffer the company of spammers and people who, hidden behind an alias, feel free to flame and worse.

So the next big milestone is 100,000 posts! I guess I really need to start writing more wine notes. Can we make it by September? Do we let Robin make the 100,000th post?

And we have less than 30,000 posts to reach 100,000. Cynthia was keeping score on chat this evening.
