WTN: Warwick "Professor Black" Sauvignon Blanc 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Jun 03, 2007 4:01 pm

Stellenbosch.

A spicy, peppery nose with loads of pine resin.

Very peppery, tangy, lemon, tart grapefruit rind, gooseberry, but with a soft and round mouth feel, lightly prickly on the tongue, some greeness (green pepper, I believe), pine resin.

A very rich wine with intense flavour and a soft, almost creamy texture. Matched quite well with curried chicken salad.

Peppery, with grapefruit rind bitterness on the finish.

Purchased at $20.15 (Canadian).

Bruce, many thanks for the note. I love quality South African wines, and this one sounds like something I should alternate my GV and Vidal with while grilling!

On another note, Vintages seems to be in a Pinotage slump at the moment - I can't find any new releases online. I hope they remedy that situation fast.
