I've been on a 98 tasting kick of late. I haven't tasted any of the 98 Bordeaux wines since I laid them down. This is the first.
1998 Lynch Bages, Pauillac, France -- While this may not be their best effort, this is a dandy wine. Aromas are a pleasant blend of black currants, black cherries, tobacco and cedar shavings, which resonate on the palate. Tannins have pretty well tamed down at this point, but they still demand notice. This middleweight is elegant and a pleasure to drink right now and should continue to do so over the next 5-7 years as a best guess.
