  • 1996 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile - France, Alsace, Ribeauvillé, Alsace AOC (5/25/2007)
    Pale gold color
whiff of diesel - beautiful Riesling nose
just shy of medium weight on the palate - the wine has mouth watering, lip smacking acidity - minerality and ripe stone fruit, with a long finish
I loved the wine and wish I would have held on as I bet it will get even better. (90 pts.)
  • 1999 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (5/25/2007)
    yellow gold and perfectly clear
a slight whiff of sulfur upon opening - blew off quickly
the wine has aromas of toast and nuts, and lemon cream.
Very crisp on the palate - tart green apple flavor comes across on the medium weight frame - stony flavors remain on the palate through the moderate finish.
This is a nice wine, drinking well now, and was good qpr at about $20 on release (88 pts.)
  • 1996 Maison Leroy Bourgogne - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (5/24/2007)
brick red color - clear at rim
forest floor - somewhat mushroomy nose,
the wine is balanced on the palate - tart cherries - lots of acidity - barely a scratch of tannin -
Very nice pinot noir. (85 pts.)
