WTN: Terra D'Aligi "Tolos" Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2002

Almost black in the glass.

A lovely rich nose of milk chocolate and mocha.

Very big and thick, rich and smooth, weighty, leather, smoke, earth, black cherry, raspberry and strawberry, tangy, with good acidity.

Leaves a rose-colored tinge on the sides of the wine glass.

A long chocolatey, tangy finish.

A very impressive wine!!

One of the largest and heaviest 750 ml bottles I have ever encountered.

Purchased at $30.15 (Canadian).

Bruce,

I've been drinking a number of Md'A's recently and still wonder:
what kind of food works best with these? The lighter ones work
very well with pasta, but the big mamas need something a bit more
substantial. By nature, the grape makes wines that can be thick, blocksome, lowly acidic, but I tend to compartamentally keep them apart from many New World wines of the same ilk, perhaps because I love the
perfume on them so much.
