Short notes from samples sent to Ronnie for possible importation.

Poggio al Pino IGT Toscana Bianco 2005 - Interesting blend 50% Trebbiano, 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Viognier. Promising flowery Viognier nose but no follow through on the palate. Bitter, acidic, watery.

Poggio al Pino IGT Toscana Rosso 2005 - Strong oak and cigarette aroma on the nose. Thin, no fruit.

Poggio al Pino Chianti 2005 - Fruity berry nose. Light, smoke, slightly hot. Lots of strawberry. Dry, savory wine. Real easy to drink. Not a wine for tasting but a great wine for food.

Poggio al Pino Templare IGT Toscana 2003 - Not sure but if I remember right, 100% Sangiovese. Beautiful nose like Pinot Noir or fine Burgundy. Camphor, mint, fragrant wood. Medium to full in the mouth. Dry. Difficult to dissect as it is quite tight. Needs time but I would be very interested to see how this develops.
