WTN: Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon 1992

Gorgeous bright lemon gold, still with green flashes. The bouquet offers bucketloads of toast, lemongrass, grilled nuts and honey with remnants of the steely lime, soap and hay, so dominant in years gone by, now playing second fiddle to the glorious maturity that has built in the bottle. The palate retains a youthful, acid-laden tightness, a healthy core of limey/grassy fruit and a big, long mouth-puckering finish. I'm not sure where this is heading but there seems to be a wealth of fruit and acid to burn. The nose is certainly developing faster than the palate. I've left the last six of these in the cellar for over five years now. I don't have any qualms in leaving the rest for some years yet. It'll be fun seeing how the remainder pan out over the next ten years or so. 93 points
