Loire 2003

by Håvard Flatland » Wed May 09, 2007 1:09 pm

I am thinking of buying some bottles of Clos St. Yves 2003 from de Baumard but I am not sure about the vintage. 2003 was a hot year and a lot of whites are not what they usually perform. If someone has experience with chenin blancs from 2003, it would be nice to hear some thoughts about it.

Depends what you like. Many of the upper level sweet wines in the region were quite impressive in 03, although the dry wines had more difficulty.

Now that I re-read your post Clos St Yves is a dry bottle, so I would wait for specific notes or purchase another year. 2002, 04, or 05 for example.

Thanks Rahsaan!

I'll wait some time. Perhaps some has tried the wine and can give a recommendation.

I have tried several bottles of the 2002, and can recommend that wine. Sorry, haven't tried the 2003 of the Yves. But 2002 was a great, great year in the Loire, and it normally a good plan to buy those over the 2003s.
