WTN: Sedara Nero d'Avola 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Apr 28, 2007 2:34 pm

IGT Sicilia.

From Donnafugata.

A very odd wine. The first bottle was rather unpleasant: dirty, rough, thin, no fruit.

Opened a second and it was a bit better, but not much, showing a bit of cherry fruit and some spice, but still dirty and quite thin.

Way over-priced at $15.95 (Canadian).

Sounds like a $7 bottle of wine trying to be more than it is. Too bad. Thanks for the note.

Shame as they do make some very good wines. 1996 Tancredi certainly aged well and our three bottles all went about 2-3 years ago.

Sorry, but I would have been disappointed even if I had paid $7 for this.

I agree with Ian, it’s a shame, the Rallo family of Sicily is known for producing some nice wines.

Salute
