New Wine Store in Montgomery Co in the DC area

by James Roscoe » Fri Apr 27, 2007 11:50 am

For all my friends in Montgomery Co, (Bruce K), there is a new, private store catering to you. It is King Farms. Formerly a beer and lotto store, it is now trying to cater to the wine geek. Will it replace MacArthurs or C-W? No, but it should be on your circuit. I have no affiliation with the store except that the manager is a friend of mine and knows his wines. Montgomery County has been a wine desert and hopefully this will be an oasis in your wine world. I just wish it were closer to PG Co.

James, this is good news. Soon, I'll need both hands to count the good wine shops around DC. Is this one near the Shady Grove Metro station?

First of all, you need two hands to count all the good wine stores in DC. Outside of DC is a different matter. I don't think it's near Shady Grove. HEre is the web site: http://www.kingfarmwine.com

James, thanks for the tip. Nice to know it's now possible to get decent wine without leaving the county. However, from where I live (just two blocks from the D.C. border), it's a shorter trip to MacArthur than to Rockville. Still, the next time I'm up in that vicinity I will definitely stop by and check it out.

For some reason Bruce I had you living up in Germantown. My bad. You are a lucky man. All those great DC wine stores. Even the crappy ones are Nirvana to us Marylanders used to the local beer and lotto crap!
