A ruby red wine that is dark for pinot noir. A typical pinot nose of cherries and earthiness. A nicely balanced light-bodied pinot that has smooth tannins, cherries and bright acidity on the midpalate. A medium long fruity finsh of cherry fruit with some lingering acidic tingles on the back of the tongue. Went well with a difficult to match dish - fried potatoes and ham. Also a really nice sipper. Somewhat one dimensional but very enjoyable as an everyday wine.
Wine: Parri Estate, Pinot Noir 2004, Southern Fleurieu, Australia. 12.5% abv. 19.95 $CAN
Note: Had this wine over a 4 hour period and the only changes were in the nose, which tended to become more complex and develop some base notes of leather and smokiness.
