2004 Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Spätlese "Portz" - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer, Mosel (4/22/2007)
Opened to accompany Indian spiced grilled pork chops (the originally planned wine was corked). Apple and pineapple aromatics. Precise, focused, fruity flavors with a substantial and balanced kick of acidity. Refreshing even though it's a big spatlese (pre-2001 I bet it would have been sold by many producers as auslese). Subtle creaminess on the finish. Delicious.
