Just reporting on a few nice wines. More on the Pinot Gris in an upcoming article.
The '05 Bollini Pinot Grigio was on point and impressive with salmon, as well as with chese and crackers the next night. 88 pts.
I think I have reported on one of my favorite value Bdx, '01 La Clotte (Pessac-Leognan) from Sichel, but this continues to impress and at only $15 (less w/discounts) is a classic bargain Bdx. Even better on day two!! 89 pts.
With a port tenderloin we tried the Pascal & Richard Jaume '04 Les Collines CdR. Picked this one up from Moore Brothers in Willmington, DE. Another nice wine showing rounded Grenache profile. 13.5% ABV 88 pts.
The interesting Maconais white from Domaine Talmard, '05 Macon-Chardonnay is an example of the overall good vintage in Burgundy and at $10 this is good value in white Burdungy. 88 pts.
Also must tell you about a stunning wine from wine class last week. For a higher-end Burg I chose the '99 Parent Vosne-Romanee and it was exceptional. At it's peak with dark fruit, earth, and fully evolved tannins. Not cheap, but worth it @ $36. 94 pts!!
More on the Pinot Gris/Grigio soon.
