WTN: 2005 ESJ Shell and Bone White

2005 Edmunds St. John Shell and Bone White
Yeah I know, another ESJ post.
A blend of Viognier and Rousanne from Paso Robles' Rozet Vineyard. Quite aromatic, must be that Viognier thing going on, with plenty of stone fruit and honey. The best part of the wine for me is the mouth feel. Very mouth coating, almost oily, glycerin-like. An easy drinker for sure as the bottle almost didn't last to the end of our baked chicken and rice dinner. Acidophiles and Chablis freaks may find it lacking in crispness, but I find this to be a food friendly change of pace white. Paid $16 here in fly-over land.

I found a hidden stock of ESJ wines in Baltimore. I did not notice if they had this wine. I will be back there to "back up the truck".

The Wine Source in Hampden off of Falls Road. It's a long ride from Bowie. They were doing a "Spring Wine" tasting. I decided to check out the California aisle which I usually ignore. I saw the Shadow (which was only $11.99!) and the the more expensive Stones and Bones ($16.99). They were out of the zin. I go there about once a month. I may be back there sooner.

James - do you mean the Wine Source that is near the old Rotunda Mall in Bal-mer? I go there whenever I get into town. (I usually take Roland Ave to get there.

I get off the Falls Rd exit on I-83 and turn right on 69th Str. Then left at the second light. I don't know B'more that intimately. I just know how to get there. They have a great cheese cave too. I assume we are talking about the same place. Never heard of the Rotunda Mall. My older B'more experience is the U. of MD campus down on Lexington and Greene.

I believe Clinton would agree that it is as good a shop as there is in town. Their champagne selection is also quite good. Baltimore lives in the wine shadow of DC. Maryland's laws are an abomination!
