I was reading an article on Portuguese wines this afternoon and it mentioned this style. Since we are always on the the lookout for summertime quaffers as the weather warms, I picked up a bottle at the wineshop this afternoon.
This going to be a summer favorite. Though served very cold, the nose shows slight petrol. Reminiscent of an Alsace Riesling....or.. call it Alsace Light? On the palate, it bone dry and crisp with lime, petrol and a dandy minerality. The wine also has an inherent effervescence...tiny bubbles that play across the palate and enhance the crisp, lingering finish.
Price: $4.99 / Bottle. I love finds like this. I think I need to explore Portuguese wines a bit more.
