WTN: Travel wines

Tuesday we headed to JFK. Little traffic and we breezed through security, in Delta lounge ai had a glass of 2023 Bichot Macon-Lugny (menu said Macon-Villages) Pear, a little vanilla, easy going. B-

On plane I didn’t note vintage of the Brocard Petit Chablis (clean and easy if a bit short0, or the
CVNE Cune Rioja Reserve (actually quite nice, spicy with good grip).

In Milan we went to a Bauscia, near the Casa Brera hotel we were staying. I loved the salad, the vitello tonnato and the vitello alla Milanese 9veal 2 ways), we were less impressed with the pumpkin ravioli with pomegranate. Wine was the 2023 La Braccesca Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Soft, ripe and supple, maybe a little hot (14.2). Good classic Sangiovese flavor profile (red and black cherry, leather), easy tannins, a little bigger than my Tuscan sensibilities but good choice with my brother and his girlfriend. B-

Drove to Piedmont, got to our hotel (Il Boscareto) just in time for lunch, Lovely views of the valleys, vineyards and hills (especially Castiglione Falletto) Hotel is owned by the family that owns Batasiolo, I had a glass of the 2025 Batasiolo Gavi. Pear, peach, and citrus blossoms, medium acids, good mineral finish. B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
