WTN: Good Loire, Bad Tuscan

A couple of quick dinners

Teriyaki salmon (I had made Mon but never tasted, so a good quick main), rice with furikake, 2025 Baudry Chinon Rose
Strawberry and a little watermelon, citrus peel, herbs and stones. Good brightness, tangy mineral finish.B+

Bucatini with porcini sauce, Italian sausage, artichokes and salad
1997 Marchesi Mazzei Castello di Fonterutoli Siepi (Toscana)
Hmmm, how to describe this? Let’s try “it sucks”. 14% but tastes like 15%, Roasted dark fruit, ashtray, coffee grounds. It’s a ripe year let’s overextract this baby. Not what I want in Tuscany. C-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

That reminds me of a t-shirt I espied today while biking home from work: "Seaworld Sucks!" Succint, and to the point. I cannot disagree. Sorry you were exposed to that wine, Dale. Life is too short, blah blah blah.
