Had a cold so no wine for a couple of days (Mexican takeout, pork chop), though I sent some Italian wine with Betsy for a dinner party I had to skip for prudence.

Feeling much better Wed. Hoisin pork tenderloin, potatoes with garlic confit, broccoli
2022 Guion Candide Bourgueil
Black raspberry and cherry, fresh and snappy, smoke and coffee on the backend. Lively and long, pretty great value. B++

Chicken breasts in a tomato basil sauce over angelhair pasta, salad
2022 Felsina Chianti Classico
I’m a big Felsina fan, but this seems a little surly. Tannin, slightly spiky acids, this might just need time but not loving today. B-/C+

Lovely evening on the porch, grilled lobster with basil butter, potato salad, spinach with colatura.

2011 Castel Faglia Cuvee Monogram Franciacorta
Probably my favorite of the Italian sparklers I got from the Barbetta cellar, Bright and zingy, citrus with a touch of quinine, fine mousse, persistent. B+

2016 Heritiers du Comte Lafon Vire Clesse

Pear, citrus zest, and a hint of hazelnut, Full, fresh, fun. Long finish with chalk and smoke. blossoms, a hint of almond, minerally/chalky finish. All you could ask from a 10 year old Macon. B+/A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

The Felsina certainly sounds disappointing. Hopefully time helps, as I have a few.
