Absolutely beautiful night Wed for last park concert of the summer. 70s, clear, with boats on the Hudson and finishing with a spectacular sunset over the Palisades.

We carried a great picnic- caprese (buffalo mozz), green salad, prosciutto, smoked scallops, cheese, sourdough, and watermelon.
2025 Bastide Blanche Bandol rose
Strawberries and tangerine, herb and underbrush, delicious as always., B+
2025 Vajra 'Clare J.C.' Nebbiolo (Langhe)
Crunchy raspberry and cherry, fresh and bright, floral notes on finish. Fun Nebbiolo goodness. I should buy more oftenB++
2018 Capensis Chardonnay (Western Cape)
Full and ripe, good acids, clear oak signature, well made but heavy for a picnic. B
2022 Audebert Bourgueil
A friend really liked this, but I thought it a little flat. Red plum, rhubarb, bell pepper, don’t mind the flavor profile but lacks the acidic structure of my favorite Cab Francs. OK. B-
2025 Alexakis Assyrtiko (Crete)
Fresh, a hint of spritz, citrus and salt air. Maybe not the weight of a Santorini Assyrtiko, but nice expression. B
Really great night with great people

Turkey chili, salad
2006 Xavier Monnot Monthelie (I know Burg isn’t first thought with chili, but it wasn’t very hot - Cubanelles and one Serrano- and worked fine)
My first impresion was beetroot, and so was my second. But I like beets! With some air more of a cherry note. Sweet red fruit, no perceptible tannin, good acids, no oxidation.Lighter body, but hanging on at 20. B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was the only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
