    Yes it’s August, but I have central air, and really wanted a good glass of Port. Then I looked at the vintage and was quite disturbed to note that it was spitting distance to 30 years old. Come on! The late 1990s were just the other day!

    I would not call this Port mature, but it is definitely in a pleasurable drinking spot. Not too tannic (for Port), lots of ripe dark berry fruit, and just the beginnings of tertiary flavors, with hints of old wood, spice, and leather. If I wanted another bottle of something that was just really tasty I would open my last, but better to wait another 10-15 years to see what treasures time will unfold.
