White florals, stone fruit, mango and copious minerality. What he didn't mention was how powerful it is for a California chenin. It's well endowed but the acidity holds everything up. Furthermore, after one short pour I put it in the fridge, no cork, and went back to it every other day or so for nine days. It evolved impressively as the fruit retreated and some savory layers came out to play, and I ran out of wine before it ran out of purpose. I don't wish for my white wines to be built like a Kardashian, but it's impressive nonetheless.

I had this wine at the tasting I attended in April (reported on here). At the time, I had the impression of a fairly light-bodied wine. Admittedly, I only got one pour and didn't have the chance to follow its development. Nonetheless, even then it had a good sense of varietal character. It sound like it's put on some heft since that tasting.

Have to figure that the 60s were good to the owners when you see names like that - we never see their wines up here in the Great White. Have you tried any of their other wines?

Hardy Wallace is a young pup of 52. He definitely gives off a neo-hippy vibe, though.

Ah, 'twas you! I thought I remembered reading someone calling it light bodied, and that therefore my expectation when I opened this bottle. Well, definitely NOT light-bodied. It's substantial, more like some South Africans I've had--ever have a Sadie or any of the single vineyard Mulderboschs? It's a lot closer to those than the Loire Valley.

Have you tried any of their other wines?

Mark has, and I'm only starting to dip into the mixed case I bought. I purchased because I had been so tantalized by reports posted here, mostly by David Bueker and Dale Williams. Had to find out what the fuss is all about!
